Workshops and Training

I offer introductory days to both Shamanism and my personal Spirit Weaving practice as well as more advanced courses on subjects such as my ‘Dreaming the Dead – Connecting to our Ancestral threads’ two day workshop.  All my courses and workshops require a commitment over and above the time spent together, with ongoing personal work and practice to get the best from our time together.

My courses aren’t for everyone, and I would always suggest you attend either my Introduction to Shamanism workshop, or one of the one day workshops I offer before committing to the four year apprenticeship. There are no rainbows and unicorns (at least, not too many, and then only when they are needed or called upon) and there is nothing fluffy or ‘new age’ about what I offer. As with all I do and share, it is grounded in the land, the ancestors, and the spirits of nature.

My workshops are always restricted to a small group in order to ensure I can always give each student the time and attention they deserve. When working on a one-to-one basis I never take on more than three such students at any one time.

Do contact me if you would like to know more about any of these courses.

Current Workshops

Once Around the Sun

Consisting of four workshops:

Finding Deep Roots
Spreading our Wings
Visions and Possibilities
Stepping into the Flow

and a final workshop, Returning to the Cave*

Each of the workshops, other than Returning to the Cave, can be taken as stand alone models, complete within themselves, or as series that will build in to a deeper way of understanding a native spirituality of these islands and a integrated way of spiritual practice. They will bring together the evidence we have from the ancient myths of Ireland and Britain as well as writings from sources such as the Romans and Greeks. We will explore aspects of the Western Magical Tradition. We will look at Core Shamanic techniques as well as indigenous methods of working with spirit from unbroken shamanic traditions across the world. Throughout each workshop we will acknowledge and honour the source of all that we are learning and practising.

Using our mythic imagination together with scholarly enquiry we will piece together a practice grounded in the magical islands of Britain and Ireland. As we explore together we will find it is both as authentic as possible, utterly practical and wholly relevant to our modern lives and modern society.

* The workshop ‘Returning to the Cave’ is only available to those participants who have completed all of the previous four workshops, and brings into integration all that we have learned and experienced.

2018/19 Cycle

Visions and Possibilities

8th June 2019 Venue: Uffington Village Hall, near Faringdon, Oxon

In this workshop we will look to the transforming energy of the element of Fire.  Seeking to see more clearly, with both our physical eyes and inner vision, we discover how to find our missing soul parts, bringing them back to begin the integration of who were brought to this lifetime to be.  We will explore the Irish Celtic cosmology of the South, explore our creativity and where we can find inspiration, even in the most unlikely of places. We will spend time looking at how we can keep a clear vision of who we are during these times of profound change.

Please note: While this workshop can be taken as a stand-alone day, it is most effective when taken as part of the full ‘Once Around the Sun’ cycle of workshops.
There are limited places on this workshop with a total of 12 places available. Those who have paid for all five workshops do not need to book for this workshop separately. As of the 11th March there are currently 3 places remaining.

£45 (plus £1.79 PayPal fee) The fee is inclusive of up to 6 months ongoing email support. To secure your place please click the big yellow button, below:

Stepping into the Flow
7th September 2019 Venue: Uffington Village Hall, near Faringdon, Oxon

Our emotions are a powerful tool. They can lead us to the peaks of joy, and they can take us to the pits of despair.  We will explore how we can find ourselves carrying the emotional burdens of others and how we can clear them. We will look deeply into the spirit world and recognise where we need to step more deeply into the flow of life and where we have found ourselves trapped in deep stagnant pools of stuck energy. Through shamanic work we will see how we can identify and clear these energies.

Returning to the Cave
30th November 2019 Venue: Uffington Village Hall, near Faringdon, Oxon

We return to the place where we began when we first began to look for those deep roots of who we are, and the roots of a spiritual practice that will allow us to grow and become who we are destined to be. We are changed. Forever changed. We look at who we are now, what we have cast aside as no longer serving us, and look at where we wish to go next. This is a moment of profound possibility if you are prepared to hear the call of spirit. Please note this workshop is only available to those participants who have completed the previous four workshops, and brings into integration all that we have learned and experienced.

2020/21 Cycle

Sorry, but there will be no 2019/20 cycle of the Once Around the Sun workshops. The next cycle will be 2020/21.

An Introduction to Shamanism
April 2020, venue TBC

A one day basic course covering what shamanism is, how to journey, the three shamanic worlds, finding our own power animal and some basic shamanic healing techniques.

Based on core shamanic methods, this workshop will form a strong foundation for further exploration of shamanism and is a vital part of ensuring you have a good, strong relationship with your spirit guides and animal helpers from the beginning of your explorations. The day will be participative and fun as well as opening doorways into the spirit world as you learn to journey safely and effectively. Places on this course are limited to a maximum of 14. The fee is inclusive of up to 6 months ongoing email support.

Finding Deep Roots
August 2020 Venue TBC

The first of the complete ‘One Around the Sun’ cycle of workshops, in this full day course, we will explore the roots of our native spirituality and the fundamentals of shamanic practice. We will learn to look to our own energy body and how we can gather power and how we can protect ourselves from the everyday things that cause us to leak power and energy. We will spend time in nature, working with the spirits of Earth, learn how to root deeply, work with nature spirits and learn how to communicate more deeply with them. The day will be practical and experiential.

Spreading our Wings
March 2020 Venue: Uffington Village Hall, near Faringdon, Oxon

We continue our explorations by turning to the high skies. We will work with the element of Air and using our shamanic journeying skills we will learn to recognise the causes and symptoms of spirit intrusions and how to clear them.   Working closely with our teachers and helping spirits, we will be learning powerful techniques to enable us to seek and begin to understand our deepest fears and what it is that holds us back. We will explore the power of voice and song, story and myth.

Other workshops and training

Dreaming the Dead – working in a sacred manner to heal our ancestors
September 2019, East Yorkshire

We are all connected to our ancestors; not only those ancestors of our own blood – deeply important though they are – but also the ancestors of the land, and those of our teachers and tradition. By working consciously with the spiralling triple threads of those connections we may come to hear the voices of our ancestors more clearly. We may come to know what they did well, and we may come to know of their mistakes so that we do not make them again. We may come to know their dreams and what they have gifted us so that we can live our lives more fully. Through journeying and gentle ceremony, we will work with our own ancestral threads to seek what wisdom and dreams they may pass on to us so that we can live our lives more aware of that purpose.

We will explore our own ancestors’ heritage, what they have been gifted and how to better nurture and heal those ancestors who are still in need. You will discover a deeper and stronger connection to your ancestors, whether of blood, the land, or of tradition and will have a practical understanding of how to connect with and to continue to work with the ancestors to nurture the soul’s dream, recognising the gifts given by the ancestors, and promoting healing and understanding where it is needed.

This is an advanced workshop and participants should have a very strong connection with their spirit helpers and teachers together with the ability to journey effectively.

Into the Mists – a three year apprenticeship

For those who wish to go further still I offer a three year apprenticeship which will allow those wishing to explore our own native and indigenous spiritual practices and shamanic ways even more deeply. Meeting three times each year, the course offers an opportunity to focus on specific aspects enabling us to live our practice with honour and respect for all life and all that surrounds us. It gives an opportunity to understand the ethical choices we make each and every day, to recognise where our modern western society has fallen out of step from traditional indigenous societies, and what we need to re-learn from them. On completion of the three years you will have a deeper understanding of who you are, you soul’s purpose, the spirits of nature and the otherworld, healing ways, the sacred, and how to live more deeply, more creatively and more respectfully of all beings.

It is not a course to be taken lightly but requires dedication and a willingness to go deep within ourselves as well as opening our hearts to all that surrounds us.

Please note: All workshop and training fees are non-refundable and non-transferable to another workshop unless the event is cancelled, in which case a full refund will be issued.
